Amy discovered her acting talent when she played Dorothy in"The Wizard of Oz" at the age of middle school, when she was 10. At high school, she took part in the drama club and was also a part of the Student Council. She also played softball and soccer teams. In 1989, she completed high school and was enrolled in Boston College. Amy was a part of an improv comedy ensemble during college. In 1993 she graduated from Boston College.
